A seat belt
“Liberty or death!" shouts a protestor on the nightly news. He values his God-given Freedoms to drive without fear of an illegal search and seizure. “The people," he contends, “aren’t idiots and can govern their own safety." Courts determine whether driving without a seat belt is a Right or a Privilege, but “by God we will defend our freedoms ‘till our dying breath."
Unfortunately, that’s just what happens each year.
What these people don’t realize is just what choice they are making when they drive without a seat belt wrapped around everyone in the car.
Government and industry have sponsored multi-million dollar safety seat belt awareness campaigns for decades. Usage has climbed, but only slowly through the years until recently.

Tips for parents on how to keep kids safe on the street
Tips for parents on how to keep kids safe on the street
(NC)—Hopping on the bus, walking home with friends, or even riding a bike to school for the first time – there are so many milestones that children experience throughout their first few years of school, and many of these experiences involve learning how to use neighbourhood streets.
This fall, Alliance Tire Professionals and the Canada Safety Council are encouraging kids to 'see and be seen' through an innovative program running in conjunction with National School Safety WeekTM in October. K.O.P. – Kids On Patrol – promotes the importance of road safety to young children through resources provided to schools across the country.
'October is a key month for school safety,' says Emile Therien, president, Canada Safety Council. 'Increased hours of darkness combine with the excitement around Halloween to make pedestrian safety a major issue for kids at this time of year. '
As part of the 'see and be seen' theme, children across Canada are being encouraged to visit their local Alliance Tire Professionals dealership this Halloween for a free, retro-reflective armband that can be worn while trick-or-treating.
'Halloween may be one of the first times that children must learn to negotiate roads, sidewalks, and other pedestrians at night,' says Therien. 'Parents are encouraged to put makeup on their children instead of masks, and to outfit them in brightly coloured, reflective clothing – it's the best way to ensure that kids can see and be seen.'
Alliance Tire Professionals and the Canada Safety Council encourage parents to have an open dialogue with their children about the importance of road safety. Here are a few tips to keep in mind as the kids hit the streets:
Teach little ones the definition of 'medians,' 'intersections' and 'pedestrians.' It will help them to understand the world of traffic around them.
Ensure children know the different traffic signals and when it is safe for them to cross. For example, at a traffic light, make sure they look both ways to make sure all cars have stopped before crossing.
Kids are naturally fascinated with emergency vehicles. Teach them how the lights and sounds are meant to warn drivers and pedestrians, and not to cross the street if a police car, ambulance or fire truck is approaching.
School buses also have red flashing lights. Let kids see how drivers must stop when school bus lights flash, and show them when it is safe for them to get on and off the bus. Always accompany young children to the bus stop, and don't let older kids arrive at the stop too early – they may be tempted to wander.
Remember: the best teacher is your own good example! Obey all traffic signals, and don't jaywalk.

Safety Information

ROAD SAFETY TIPS
Road is the most common setting for injury in this country. Some children developed severe injury in car crash and quite a number died. Children under 5 years of age are most at risk as passengers, children between 5 and 9 years as pedestrians and as cyclist. Child car restraints, when correctly used, have been proved to be effective in preventing serious injuries to babies and children in a car crash.
HOW TO PREVENT ROAD INJURY
In the car
Always use car seat, starting with your baby's first ride from hospital.
An infant is not safe in your arm. Even a minor accident may break your child from your hold. You can even crush him in a collision.
Never put your baby on your lap while driving
Every child should use a child restraint suitable for his size and weight with SIRIM approval. Choose car seat with restraints. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's installation instruction precisely and check the vehicle's owner's manual for installation procedures.
Infant car seat should be installed facing the rear. After one year, he can move into a properly secured, forward facing toddler seat.
The back seat is the safest for all children to ride.
Make sure that there are no loose objects on the parcel shelf, seat or floor of the car that could fly about in a car crash that can lead to injury
Pedestrian
Children under the age of 9 years, do not have the skill or abilities to cross road safely on their own. They are easily distracted, often misjudge distance and speed of cars.
Always hold your child's hand when near or crossing the road.
Show good example to your children. A child learns by example. Use traffic lights or a pedestrian crossing when they are available.
Teach them simple road rules, to look to the right, look to the left and right again before crossing the road
Bicycles
All bicyclists are encouraged to wear bicycle helmet. This will prevent serious head injury.
DO NOT CARRY CHILDREN LESS THAN 12 MONTHS OLD ON BICYCLES

Two lovers die in crash, two others injured in lorry-car accident after birthday do
By ANDREW SAGAYAM
KUALA LUMPUR: A birthday celebration turned tragic when two people died and two others were injured in an accident near the National Heart Institute in Jalan Tun Razak early yesterday morning.
The victims, Wong Tuck Seong, 23, and his girlfriend Leong Pui Leng, a 27-year-old manicurist, died when the car driven by Wong crashed into a lorry.
Tragic end: Fire and Rescue personnel had to extricate the bodies of Wong and his girlfriend Pui Leng (inset), from the Kelisa. The couple were killed in an accident after a birthday celebration yesterday.
Wong and Leong, who died on the spot, had been courting for four years and had planned to get married later this year.
In the 5am incident, the Perodua Kelisa crashed into a one tonne lorry transporting fish and vegetables. Fire and Rescue personnel had to cut through the damaged car belonging to Leong’s mother to extricate the bodies.
Two other passengers seated at the back, Wong’s brother, Tuck Wai, 17, in critical condition and is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (KLH) while Pui Leng’s brother, Ah Weng, 19, suffered minor injuries.
The four had earlier celebrated Ah Weng’s birthday.
When met at KLH, Ah Weng said Wong apparently lost control of the car before slamming into the lorry. “It happened so fast. All I can remember is that I blacked out soon after the crash,” the teary-eyed Ah Weng added.
City traffic police investigations and prosecution division head DSP Abdullah Roning said the lorry driver suffered a heart attack during the incident. He was rushed to the KLH and is reported to be in stable condition.
In Banting, EDWARD RAJENDRA reported that three school boys on a joyride were killed and another seriously injured when their car overturned into a ditch in Sijangkang near here early Sunday morning.
According to a police source, the four boys, all aged 17, were in a Proton Perdana at about 2am when the police spotted them behaving in a suspicious manner.
In the high speed chase that ensued, the Proton Perdana landed in the ditch while the patrol car crashed into an oil palm.
The driver of the Proton Perdana and two passengers in the back seat were killed on the spot.
The surviving school boy, seated in the front passenger seat, sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) for treatment.
The driver of the patrol car suffered a fractured leg and has also been admitted to the HTAR. The other policeman in the patrol car was given outpatient treatment.

Children
Children
On average 37 children up to the age of 16 were killed or seriously injured every week on our roads in 2007.
The THINK! campaign is helping to contribute to the Government's objective of halving the number of road deaths and serious injuries for children by the year 2010.
By 2007 this figure had fallen by 55% and we are working to cut this number still further.
Safe as pedestrians and cyclists As a parent or carer, you can help reduce the risks your child faces on our roads by teaching them how to be safe as pedestrians and as cyclists. You can also make sure that you use the right size child car seat on every trip, and that it fits properly.
In this section, you can read about our campaigns that relate to making children safe on our roads: Pedestrians, Cycling and In car. You will also receive vital advice and tips on how to protect your children by taking the most effective in car safety measures and by teaching them basic road safety skills.

Drive Too Fast!!
Posted by RoadSafety at 6:51 AM 0 comments
Unbelievable...Beware .... Kancil Driver who speeds 18+
Speed kills. For those who don't believe and still think speeding is cool and fun, take a look at the pictures below(only if you can take them).
Apparently…… speeding isn't cool and fun. You will regret for your whole life if your love ones are your passengers.
It's better to be late than to be sorry. Remember to plan your journey ahead of time to avoid speeding. Do Not Drink and Drive. Always make sure that you have taken enough rest/sleep before driving for a long journey.
Please be advised that you are not a heart disease patient and you have already taken your meals before scrolling down to see the pictures.
